[...] almost everybody asked us why. Not, why a movie about Ellis Island, but why us. What was our connection with it [...] ?
This sentence, from Georges Perec and Robert Bober about their film Ellis Island Tales, particularly resonates with our experience. Almost every time a "why-us" question appeared while talking to people. Indeed, it was hard to answer why, two people, without any clear links with the Armenian community, wanted so deeply to explore and question it.
The documentary movie, by enlighting hopefully our demarch, should make in a certain way this question secondary.
We are delighted to wish you a very happy New Year 2009! To start the year the best way possible, we would like to offer you some pictures of Armenia under the snow...
One idea of our project was to bring video-letters (messages) from one community to another. This is an example of such a message. Some children from Marseilles (France) with no Armenian origins were playing the Armenian story of David of Sassoon as part of the year of Armenia in France. Children from a school in Karmir Shuka (Nagorno-Karabagh) are reacting in this video to the message of the children from Marseilles.
